It felt like Davante Adams and Matthew Stafford were leaving some meat on the bone through the first six weeks of the Los Angeles Rams’ season.

While Stafford managed to hit Adams on some big throws to begin the year, the two failed to connect on several players that could swung games.

The signal-caller has got clear chemistry with Puka Nacua, but it’s taken some time for he and Adams to get on the same page. However, it seems like they’re finally learning each other’s games as Stafford found the veteran three times in the end zone in their Week 7 win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

After the win, Adams explained that he and Stafford emphasized getting on the same page leading up to the game, via Wyatt Miller of TheRams.com:

“Just the intentionality (increased this week),” Adams said. “I went into this week, I told you guys earlier in the week I wasn’t satisfied with the efficiency, specifically him targeting me… some of them have been me, some of them have been the throws, but just figuring it out, being on the right page, just working on a few things (helped).”

Stafford and Adams missed on a couple of throws to begin against the Jaguars, but the two trusted that things would eventually fall their way:

“So starting out, obviously, the first two, not getting them, we were like, ‘Okay, just keep being ourselves, not try to press,'” Adams said. “Because I think that’s where you can kind of fall into that hole sometimes where it’s not working and you try to do something that’s outside of your body or whatever. And similar to what (Steelers quarterback) Aaron (Rodgers) used to tell me, we don’t need any Herculean efforts. It’s just, go out and be yourself, that’s what we did today.”

While Adams didn’t have a big day in terms of yardage, it’s incredibly encouraging to see him and Stafford on the same page in the red zone. The Rams’ have surprisingly been mediocre scoring in the red zone, so the receiver building with his quarterback is a massive development for the offense.

Going into the bye week, Adams and Stafford will have more time to work together and hopefully it results in more scoring drives for Los Angeles.

Matthew Stafford feels lucky to be able to throw to Puka Nacua and Davante Adams

Matthew Stafford has been fortunate to play with some of the best receivers in NFL history, so he expressed how lucky he is that he gets to throw to Puka Nacua and Davante Adams this season.
