The Los Angeles Rams picked up their second victory of the 2025 season, earning it in their first road game against the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.
The Rams beat the Titans 33-19 behind a strong second half on both sides of the field. The trio of Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams and Puka Nacua carried the offense while the defense made another splash play in the fourth quarter thanks to Byron Young. He strip-sacked Cam Ward and forced a fumble that Nate Landman was able to recover in the red zone.
Under head coach Sean McVay, Los Angeles has normally had a workhorse running back who handles all the touches and Kyren Williams has held that role the past couple of seasons. While Williams was effective in Week 2, his backup Blake Corum also worked into the mix and was effective with his touches.
After Corum’s strong game against Tennessee, McVay praised the running back and hinted at more usage for the sophomore.
“I was really pleased with Blake,” McVay said after the win. “I thought the gap run he had on second down and 10 where he got to the backside A-gap. Looked like he was going to come out clean. He’s explosive. He’s a good football player, I have a lot of trust in him. And then we’ll continue to see that moving forward, so I thought that was good today.”
The Rams took Corum with the 83rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft with the hopes that McVay could truly utilize two running backs. However, Williams dominated the touches while Corum was relegated to limited action on the field. He did get his career start in Week 18 last year, but unfortunately suffered a season-ending forearm injury.
Corum played sparingly in the Week 1 win against the Houston Texans, recording just one rushing attempt for two yards plus one reception for one yard. However, he earned more work in Week 2 as he had five rushing attempts for 44 yards and even scored his first career rushing touchdown.
Moving forward, McVay revealed what kind of carry split he expects between Corum and Williams.
“We have certain substitution patterns. I think the best way to be able to be consistent with it is you’re able to sustain drives,” he said on Monday. “I think what you’re looking for is something around a 65:35 ratio for those guys. I think you want Kyren playing about two-thirds of the time and Blake playing the other third. Different things come up. There are certain things that you want Kyren on, but I think Blake has done an excellent job. I think Kyren will be at his best throughout the course of the season. I think our job is to be able to figure out how to take advantage of two really damn good football players in that running back room.”
Like Williams, Corum is a smaller back that can get downhill but won’t rip off any home run plays. Despite that, he’s an effective runner with good vision and balance so it’ll be interesting to see how McVay uses him moving forward.

On the other side of the football field, the Rams got dealt bad news when it was announced Ahkello Witherspoon suffered a broken clavicle.
