The Los Angeles Rams began trimming their roster ahead of Tuesday’s deadline by moving on from 11 players.

The Rams waived tight end McCallan Castles, safety Malik Dixon-Williams, offensive lineman Ben Dooley, defensive tackle Decarius Hawthorne, guard John Leglue, center Mike McAllister, outside linebacker Josh Pearcy, defensive lineman Da’Jon Terry, offensive tackle Trey Wedig and quarterback Dresser Winn.

The aforementioned players will now be subject to waivers. Players who go unclaimed will become unrestricted free agents and are free to sign with any NFL team.

It’s likely that some of those players will end up on the Rams practice squad to begin the 2025 season.

Additionally, the Rams released inside linebacker Tony Fields II. He originally joined the team last October but did not play in any regular season games.

Fields previously spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns after he was selected in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Fields has appeared in 45 games (10 starts) since coming into the league, totaling 88 tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and one pass defensed.

The Rams’ active roster now stands at 79, so they must cut 26 additional players by 1 p.m. PT on Tuesday.

Terrance Ferguson ‘felt great’ in Rams debut

The Los Angeles Rams fell to the Cleveland Browns in their preseason finale, but it wasn’t without a strong performance from tight end Terrance Ferguson.

The second-round draft pick out of Oregon missed the Rams’ first two preseason games because of a groin injury, but quickly showed the kind of impact he can make when healthy.

Ferguson played about half the game and caught both of his passes on the Rams’ first touchdown drive. The first was a long 33-yard pass from Dresser Winn, and he later added 15 more yards on a check-and-release route.

Ferguson said he felt good in his first NFL game and credited the Rams training staff for getting him back to full health.

The Rams have high expectations for Ferguson, who was selected with the 46th overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

He will be part of a talented Rams tight end room this season that also includes Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen.
