The Los Angeles Rams are gearing up for the 2025 NFL season, which begins for them on Sunday, Sep. 7 at 1:25 p.m. PT against the Houston Texans. Matthew Stafford — now seemingly healthy — leads the way with an offense that has talent like Kyren Williams, Puka Nacua and the newly-acquired Davante Adams.

The defense, meanwhile, is led by a ferocious young core that includes Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Kobie Turner, Byron Young and more. After being a surprise contender in 2024 and nearly defeating the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round last postseason, L.A. looks to be serious Super Bowl contenders in 2025.

Rams President Kevin Demoff went one step further when talking about the 2025 version of the team. He compared it with all the previous teams that have played for the Rams since moving to L.A., and had incredible things to say, via Good Morning Football:

“I think this is the most talented team we’ve had since we’ve been in Los Angeles. I think that’s what’s exciting from a true perspective as a Rams fan. We have the addition of Davante Adams. It’s sad to lose someone like Cooper Kupp, who brought us so many memories across the street and across the board, but you add someone like a Davante Adams, you have the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year, who’s been unstoppable in training camp. Matthew coming back. You know, Kyren… It’s an interesting team because it’s a very young team. I think we’re one of the three, four youngest teams, but actually we’re returning almost all of our starters. So, it’s a young, ascending team. You see that every day. They have a great camaraderie and chemistry. We had an amazing minicamp in Maui, to watch the team kind of bond and come together. So this is the most connected team and probably the most talented team we’ve had in Los Angeles, but here on August 20th, that doesn’t mean anything, right? You’ve still got to go do it.”

The teams since the Rams moved to Los Angeles include a Super Bowl champion and two NFC title teams, so to call this edition of the franchise the most talented is a bold claim. It also could be accurate, as the mixture of talent, depth and youth on the defense is something L.A. has not had in recent years.

But if everyone on the defense takes the expected leaps, Stafford stays healthy and Adams and Nacua do what they do, then the 2025 Rams could legitimately be among the best since the move to L.A.

Rams’ Matthew Stafford discusses return to practice

All eyes have been on Stafford’s practice availability the past few weeks as the Rams quarterback has been recovering from a back injury.

There wasn’t much concern over Stafford’s back initially, but the situation grew with the more time he missed.

Fortunately for the Rams, Stafford was able to recently return to training camp practices and seems set to play in Week 1. He has practiced all four days this week, although one of them was just a team walkthrough.

Following his return to practice, the quarterback admitted it was hard for him to be off the field, and noted he felt better than he thought he would on his first day back and is beginning to feel more like his usual self.
