One of the biggest storylines for the Los Angeles Rams since the start of training camp has been Matthew Stafford’s unavailability due to an aggravated disc in his back.

The 37-year-old has not taken a single snap since minicamp in June, raising concerns about his status for the start of the regular season.

Stafford was supposed to participate in a workout on Saturday, but the Rams have been discreet about whether or not he actually did.

The team finally put an end to that speculation by posting a video of Stafford in pads on the field for Monday’s practice:

Rams head coach Sean McVay spoke to reporters and said they are still taking things slowly with Stafford, but were encouraged to see him back on the field, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

Rams HC Sean McVay said they are continuing to take things a day at a time with QB Matthew Stafford.

Said it was “great” to see Stafford out there today.

Stafford not only participated in individual drills, but was on the field for the team practices as well. That was somewhat surprising considering Stafford has been out for nearly two months, but a good sign of the progress he is making.

With just under three weeks until the Rams host the Houston Texans in their regular season opener, Stafford still has plenty of time to get up to game speed and prepare for what everyone hopes is another successful year.

Stafford is entering his 17th NFL season and expectations could not be higher after he led the Rams to the playoffs last year. L.A. was only a few plays away from potentially knocking off the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and advancing to the NFC Championship Game.

Stafford completed 65.8% of his passes for 3,762 yards and 20 touchdowns in 16 games during the 2024 season.

Matthew Stafford to host Season 5 of ‘Let’s Go!’

Rams All-Pro quarterback Matthew Stafford has been named a host for Season 5 of the SiriusXM NFL show, “Let’s Go!” He joins Jim Gray, Maxx Crosby and Peter King to discuss the weekly news and game recaps across the league.

“Over the years, I have enjoyed watching & listening to “Let’s Go” on SiriusXM, and Jim is one of the true icons of sports broadcasting,” Stafford said. “To have a chance to work with him, Maxx and Peter this season was too good to pass up. Nothing is more important than winning football games, but Jim makes it so easy and fun to do this on Monday nights that I am really looking forward to it this season.”
