As the Los Angeles Rams continue training camp, one player who has stood out thus far is second-year defensive end Tyler Davis.

The 24-year-old only played in roughly 29% of the team’s defensive snaps last year, but still recorded 29 tackles, one quarterback pressure and half a sack.

The Rams have been impressed with Davis’ consistency and team-first mentality, which could help him get more playing time in his second NFL season.

When asked what feels different about this year, Davis said he has more confidence and understands the playbook more, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

“I would say confidence,” Davis told theRams.com, when asked what feels different now compared to his rookie year. “Also knowing that rookie year, you kind of have a lot thrown at you know, all this stuff is new. But just having a year underneath my belt and knowing what to expect, that right there, just that approach.”

Davis is part of an impressive Rams’ defensive line that includes Braden Fiske, Poona Ford and Kobie Turner, among others.

While Davis will likely be behind those players on the depth chart, he could still emerge as an important rotational player this season.

The former Clemson Tiger thrived against the run as a rookie and should again be a key contributor in those situations.

Kyren Williams agrees to contract extension with Rams

Going into training camp, it was known that Rams running back Kyren Williams was looking for a new contract.

Negotiations took longer than expected though, so Williams reported to camp without a new deal in place yet. To his credit, he did not hold out or cause a scene, expressing faith that a deal would eventually get done.

It turns out his faith was rooted in reality as Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on Tuesday morning that Williams has agreed to a three-year extension to remain with the Rams.

This is a deal that makes sense for both sides as Williams gets paid what he deserves while not resetting the running back market and making the Rams pay top dollar. He is now under contract for up to four more seasons, giving Williams some long-term security.

In the last two years, Williams has rushed for at least 1,100 yards per season and has scored a total of 31 touchdowns, which is among the league leaders since he took over as the Rams’ starter.
