The Los Angeles Rams announced they have signed former Atlanta Falcons linebacker Nate Landman to a one-year contract.
The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it’s no secret inside linebacker was a position of need for the Rams going into the offseason, especially after losing both Christian Rozeboom and Jake Hummel in free agency. Troy Reeder is also a free agent, leaving Omar Speights as the lone inside linebacker with experience on the roster. And even he doesn’t have a ton of experience after joining the team as an undrafted free agent last year and coming on as a starter in the latter half of the season.
Similar to Speights, Landman was an undrafted free agent out of Colorado that signed with the Falcons in 2022. He spent the last three seasons in Atlanta, tallying 192 total tackles, three sacks, six forded fumbles, four passes defensed and one interception while starting in 23 of 36 games played.
Landman’s best season came in 2023 when he had 110 total tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, three passes defensed and an interception in 16 games (14 starts). In 13 games (nine starts) this past season, the 26-year-old had 81 total tackles and three forced fumbles.
It remains to be seen if Landman will join Speights as a starter for the Rams or if he’s viewed as more of a depth piece as the team still could address the linebacker position in free agency or the draft. Regardless though, it was clearly a position of need for the Rams and they identified Landman as someone who can help address it for the 2025 season on what is presumed to be a team-friendly contract.
Rams also re-sign Larrell Murchison
The Rams also recently made another signing on the defensive side of the ball, re-signing Larrell Murchison to a one-year deal. The defensive tackle missed all of last season due to injuries but has been a solid contributor for L.A. in the past.
