Heading into the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams have a lot of things to sort out and at the top of the list is the futures of Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp.
It appears they have already made a decision on Kupp as he recently announced that the Rams told him they will be trading him offseason. That marks the end of an era for the Rams with their former triple crown winner’s expected departure.
Stafford’s future with the Rams is also up in the air as he does not have any guaranteed money remaining on his contract. He intends to play in 2025 but understandably wants a new deal in place. Stafford also, of course, is very close with Kupp so can’t be happy about the organization parting ways with the wide receiver.
With all of these question marks, New York Giants rookie Malik Nabers took to social media to seemingly recruit both Stafford and Kupp:

Nabers then went on “Fantasy Football Happy Hour” with Matthew Berry and clarified what his posts meant:
“It’s a pretty good riddle. I don’t know if everybody will solve this one. I’m not giving it away a lot but I feel like people know what I’m aiming for.”
Nabers discussed his admiration for Stafford and what makes him such a great quarterback:
“His arm talent is crazy. His sidearm is crazy. The way he throws the ball, his angles, it’s crazy. He knows the defense. He’s a veteran quarterback. He led that team to the playoffs without those receivers he was playing with at the beginning of the season when they were hurt. Then when he got them back, he was able to do a lot of great things. I like the way he throws the football.”
Nabers also shared some praise for Kupp and revealed that he watched film on the Rams star in college:
“I watched a lot of Cooper Kupp film, especially when I was in the slot at LSU. Just trying to do a lot of option routes. His option route is probably one of the best I’ve seen. Having him in the room and I can learn from that – it’s always great to learn from a veteran. I got a chance to learn from Allen Robinson when he was there in the spring. I learned a lot from him so if I can learn from Cooper Kupp, I can exceed my game, understand a lot. I’m young, so I’m trying to get as much game as possible for years to come.”
Just because the Rams are parting ways with Kupp doesn’t mean they want to do so with Stafford. They still have a roster full of young talent capable of competing right now.
If they can’t figure out Stafford’s contract situation though then perhaps they do look to trade him as well, which would signal a new era for the Rams.
Rams selecting 26th in 2025 NFL Draft
Outside of free agency and trades, the Rams will look to improve their roster through the draft and after being eliminated in the divisional round, they have the 26th overall pick in the first round.
