The Los Angeles Rams will officially have the 26th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The three-day event will take place in Green Bay, Wis., from April 24-26.
It marks the fourth time in franchise history that the Rams will have the 26th overall selection. The most recent instance was in 1989 when the team took running back Cleveland Gary out of the University of Miami.
Gary, who played five of his six NFL seasons with the Rams, ran for a league-leading 14 touchdowns in 1990 and recorded a career-best 1,125 rushing yards during the 1992 season.
As of now, the Rams will make seven total picks in the upcoming draft. They will look for continued success after adding defensive standouts Jared Verse and Braden Fiske in 2024.
Tight end, cornerback, inside linebacker and wide receiver are among the positions of need for the Rams this year. They could also look to select a quarterback with Matthew Stafford’s future with the Rams up in the air.
The soon-to-be 37-year-old said he will take some time to decide on potentially returning for a 17th NFL season. Rams head coach Sean McVay noted that he hopes to have the logistics sorted out sooner rather than later.
Cooper Kupp’s future with the Rams is also uncertain, but the veteran wideout confirmed he will play in 2025. The 31-year-old saw fewer targets as the 2024 season progressed, which he admitted was frustrating at times.
Kupp’s situation will be one to watch as the Rams reportedly considered moving him at the trade deadline last year. He has two years remaining on his contract, and if the team decides to cut him, they will save about $7.52 million against the salary cap.
Considering how well the Rams have drafted with later picks in recent years, they should be able to land an impact player at 26. Trading up or down is always a possibility for Les Snead as well, of course.
