The start of the 2024 season has not gone as planned for the Los Angeles Rams as they have been hit by a ton of injuries and currently sit at 2-4 as a result.
There is still time for the Rams to turn things around as they are coming off a win against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7 and are only one game out of first place in the loss column. But that turnaround needs to come right now, or else big changes could be on the horizon.
If the Rams keep losing then they will likely look to trade some veterans before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 5 with Cooper Kupp already popping up in rumors. According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Rams have already begun calling teams about Kupp to see what they can get back for the former Super Bowl MVP:
The Rams have called multiple teams about trading former Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp sources tell @mikesilver, @jourdanrodrigue, and me.
The Rams have indicated a willingness to take on some of the ‘24 salary and are seeking a 2nd round pick.— Dianna Russini (@DMRussini) October 22, 2024
Staying on the field has been an issue for Kupp is recent years as after his triple crown campaign in 2021, he has only been able to suit up for 23 games in the last three seasons.
It makes sense for the Rams to start making calls to see what they can get back for him if their season goes south in the next couple of weeks. If they can get a second-round pick for the 31-year-old then they may view it as worthwhile, but if the offers aren’t to their liking then it will be interesting to see what their decision is.
The Rams have a number of quality receivers that they like and could build around moving forward if they trade Kupp with Puka Nacua and Jordan Whittington both showing a ton of promise.
If they do trade Kupp though, it will be interesting to see if that signals a rebuild with more trades to come or if they still try to compete with Matthew Stafford and a young group of receivers.
Cooper Kupp to return for Rams against Vikings
The focus for the Rams currently is on getting a win Thursday night against the Minnesota Vikings to get their season back on track and avoid having to sell at the deadline. And after missing the last four games with an ankle injury, the Rams will get Cooper Kupp back in the lineup for their game against the Vikings.
