The Los Angeles Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford put forward one of the most surprising performances of Week 1 in the NFL as they dominated the Seattle Seahawks on the road 30-13 to start their season off right. While Stafford didn’t throw a touchdown pass, he did throw for over 300 yards with unknown receivers Tutu Atwell and Puka Nacua both going over 100 yards in the absence of Cooper Kupp.
After an awful season filled with injuries last year, Stafford is looking to prove a lot of doubters wrong this year to show he is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league. And soon many will get an even closer look into his process and everything that will go into this season.
According to Jake Ellenbogen of the Turf Show Times, Stafford is set to be one of the featured stars of the hit Netflix docuseries Quarterback:
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford will be one of the featured stars in the second season of the hit Netflix docuseries “Quarterback”, according to a source in an exclusive report to me and Turf Show Times. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback of the L.A. Rams turned down Netflix and executive producers Peyton Manning and Keith Cossrow for the first season of the show, according to wife Kelly Stafford during a recent episode of her podcast “The Morning After”, but she added that he was open to doing the show depending on the outcome of season one and it appears that he was happy with what he saw.
The Netflix series, executive produced by Peyton Manning, was an absolute hit and followed the seasons of Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins, and then-Atlanta Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota in Season 1.
As was noted, Stafford was approached about being in the first season but turned it down. But after seeing how things turned out, it looks like he is on board and this season would surely provide a much better story for the Rams quarterback.
Last year, Stafford suffered two concussions and a spinal cord contusion that ultimately ended his season early. Some wondered whether he would retire, especially having accomplished the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl, but Stafford was motivated to return for the Rams and contribute at a high level.
He and the Rams are off to a great start this season and if Stafford can continue down this path, it will make season 2 of Quarterback a must-watch regardless of who the other two signal-callers will be.
