It was a forgettable Week 1 for Matthew Stafford, who struggled throwing the football in the Los Angeles Rams’ loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Stafford had little to work with in the pocket as the Bills found success rushing with just four players up front. As a result, the Rams quarterback finished with 240 passing yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.
The immediate reaction was that Los Angeles is suffering from a Super Bowl hangover and Stafford’s elbow isn’t 100 percent healthy, but the team responded in a positive way by beating the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2. It was a better all-around effort from L.A. who looked much sharper in each phase of the game, and ultimately they won their first game of the 2022 season.
Rams fans were given a treat when the team released video of Stafford mic’d up for Week 2, via their YouTube channel:
As one of the team captains, Stafford is seen several times talking up his teammates and encouraging them both during and in-between drives. His leadership is on full display throughout the video and he does a good job of motivating them to continue their strong play after scoring plays.
Los Angeles scored four total touchdowns, and Stafford is seen after each one of them congratulating the scoring player. He finally connected with Allen Robinson to give the veteran wideout his first touchdown with the Rams, while he ended up tossing two more to his favorite target in Cooper Kupp. Darrell Henderson got a carry in the red zone for their lone rushing score and the running back gets props from Stafford for the run.
The last bit of the video highlights Jalen Ramsey’s game-sealing interception where Stafford praises the defense and is later seen dapping up Marcus Mariota after the win.
