When it comes to the best defensive backs in the NFL, the conversation needs to start with Jalen Ramsey. Ramsey was a big part in the Los Angeles Rams being one of the best defensive units in the league, and it’s easy to see why when you watch him on film.
Ramsey is a premier man-to-man cornerback, but he played more in the box during the 2021 season. Defensive coordinator Raheem Morris played Ramsey in the “Star” role that allowed him to be closer to the line of scrimmage where he could make more plays on the ball.
In a recent poll, Ramsey was voted the best cornerback in the NFL but an anonymous executive believes he is not quite as good as some say via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN:
“I think he’s falling off and a little overrated at this point,” an AFC exec said. “Super Bowl, to me, is an indication of what it’s going to look like moving forward.”
Ramsey saw the quote and fired back on his Twitter account:
Stack up my first 6 years in the league to ANY corner in HISTORY! 3x 1st team All Pro & 5x Pro bowler… who else did that? 👀

😂 this is comedy Cam… this DB shit is not even a debate anymore at this point forreal & everybody will see ONCE AGAIN just like they have been seeing! It’s just funny seeing people try to find ways to get me from being top dawg.
I’ll speak more on this when the time comes 👀

Perhaps it’s because Ramsey is not isolated on receivers exclusively or voter fatigue, but to think he’s falling off seems off after the Rams just won a Super Bowl. Los Angeles will certainly tell anyone Ramsey remains as elite as ever and he will be able to justify his status as the best during the 2022 season.
