Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is expected to get a statue in Miami University’s “Cradle Of Coaches” exhibit at their football stadium on Monday.
McVay attended Miami University in Ohio and played on the football team before graduating in 2008. He will join other University legends such as Paul Brown, collegiate coaching giants like Notre Dame University’s Ara Parseghian and University of Michigan’s Bo Schembechler in the “Cradle of Coaches” exhibit.
While McVay’s statue will be unveiled eventually, they still are not exactly sure what it will look like, via Michael D. Clark of Journal-News:
“We are in the process of working with Coach McVay on planning for the creation and installation of the statue and hope to celebrate this addition to campus soon,” said Miami Spokeswoman Jessica Rivinius.
Miami University now has three Super Bowl winning NFL coaches, which they are understandably very proud about:
“Coach Sean McVay joined (Baltimore Ravens Coach) John Harbaugh and former New York Jets Coach Weeb Ewbank as an alumnus to win the Super Bowl as the head coach,” said Rivinius.
“His (McVay) doing so made Miami University the only school to count three Super Bowl winning head coaches among their alumni. Some universities have two, but only Miami now has three.”
What McVay has accomplished in his young NFL career is truly incredible, leading the Rams to two Super Bowls and winning one this past season. This statue is well-deserved for the 36-year-old whose legend and reputation as one of the best coaches in the NFL continue to grow every year.
This year has been a big one for McVay, winning the Super Bowl, getting married, and now getting his first statue at his alma mater.
