Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is as tough as they come, consistently showing that he’s willing to play through injury throughout the course of his career.

That was the case in his first season with the Rams as reports indicated he played through some rib and back issues. Stafford was able to play through the ailments and eventually led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory.

It appears that Stafford’s injuries needed to be addressed at the start of the offseason though. The Rams reported for their first voluntary offseason workouts on Tuesday and Stafford revealed that he underwent a procedure that will help him in the long run although did not go into much detail beyond that, via Michael Duarte of NBC:

CORRECTION: #LARams Matthew Stafford said he got NOTHING surgical done in the offseason, but did do "a procedure thing that I had to take care of that is going to make me feel better in the long run.”
He said he's feeling good right now about 8+ weeks removed from Super Bowl.

It’s good that Stafford got the procedure out of the way early in the offseason and is now feeling healthy, which should allow him to get in plenty of work with his teammates and specifically his pass-catchers this summer.

The Rams have undergone some changes offensively this offseason, most notably bringing in former Pro Bowl wide receiver Allen Robinson, so it should take some time for Stafford to develop chemistry with one of his new top targets.

Additionally, the Rams have a new offensive coordinator in Liam Coen that Stafford will get to know as well.

While there is still a ton of time until the start of training camp, Stafford and the Rams seem ready to roll for the 2022 season as they look to defend their Super Bowl title.
