One of the wildest NFL offseasons in recent memory continued this week as the Kansas City Chiefs traded superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins after contract extension negotiations stalled.
To land the six-time Pro Bowler, the Dolphins gave up a 2022 first-round pick previously acquired from the San Francisco 49ers, a 2022 second-round pick, two fourth-round picks and a 2023 sixth-round pick.
The Dolphins have been one of the busiest teams in free agency as they look to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. In addition to Hill, they’ve brought in Terron Armstead and Chase Edmonds and re-signed Mike Gesicki and Emmanuel Ogbah.
When asked about the Dolphins’ recent moves at his introductory press conference, Hill repeated a phrase that was made popular by Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead, via NFL reporter Dov Kleiman:

Snead has become famous for his willingness to trade high draft picks in exchange for Pro Bowl-caliber talent. At the Rams’ Super Bowl parade, he kept the joke going by wearing a shirt and talking about the famous meme surrounding him.
L.A. hasn’t made a first-round selection since taking Jared Goff with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The following year’s selection was sent to the Tennessee Titans as part of the Goff trade, and in 2018, it went to the New England Patriots for Brandin Cooks.
After trading down in 2019, the Rams dealt the following year’s first-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for Jalen Ramsey. The next two picks were shipped to the Detroit Lions in the blockbuster that netted Matthew Stafford.
As it currently stands, the Rams won’t pick again in the first round until the 2024 NFL Draft.
