While the Los Angeles Rams talked about running it back after winning the Super Bowl, that isn’t always realistic in this league.
Through the first week of free agency, the Rams have been able to retain some key players, specifically on the offensive line, although they’ve also lost some key players like Von Miller and Darious Williams as well.
The Rams made one splash move on a player outside the organization, signing wide receiver Allen Robinson to a three-year, $45 million contract to add another playmaker.
After the Rams signed Robinson, many people wondered what the Rams would do with some of their other receivers, namely Odell Beckham Jr., who remains a free agent.
The Rams still have reported interest in retaining Beckham, which means that something had to give in their receiver room.
It turns out that the odd man out was Robert Woods as the Rams have agreed to trade the veteran to the Tennessee Titans for a 2023 sixth-round draft pick, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

While the move makes some sense after the addition of Robinson, it is a heartbreaker for Rams fans as Woods, who is from L.A. and attended USC, was a fan favorite.
The 30-year-old is coming off a torn ACL though, so perhaps the organization was looking for some more stability at the position around Cooper Kupp and felt Robinson was a better option.
The Titans will be taking on Woods’ four-year, $65 million contract, which is why the Rams did not receive much in retain for a very quality player and person.
With the recent extension of Matthew Stafford and now trading Woods though, the Rams were able to save significant money that they can now use to fill other holes on the roster.
So even though seeing Woods go will be extremely tough, it seems that Les Snead and Sean McVay have a plan in place to make this roster even better in 2022 and beyond.
