The Los Angeles Rams are going to see a nearly completely different NFC West when the 2022 season rolls around.

The reigning Super Bowl champions saw their division shaken up when Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos in a blockbuster move that sent waves through the NFL. Wilson’s discontent with the Seattle Seahawks had been well-documented for a couple seasons and he finally got his wish to be moved to a new team.

However, Seattle was not done making changes as they also released fellow franchise legend Bobby Wagner in a move that surprised nearly everyone. Wagner was not happy with how things played out, taking to Twitter to reveal that the franchise had not notified him personally that he was being let go.

Shortly after Wagner tweeted his frustration, Jalen Ramsey responded by calling out fans and teams for how players are treated in the business, via his Twitter account:

Idk how a “fan” can say this is just business & don’t take it personal, but when a player does what’s best for him (request a trade or hold out- for example), they don’t have that same energy 🤔 https://t.co/vO8ncm4iI5

Often times it feels like fans and teams treat players like commodities rather than human beings, and in this case, it feels like Wagner was another unfortunate incident of a team not truly valuing someone. Ramsey has never been one to shy away from controversy, and in this case, he is right to call out the hypocrisy that occurs when athletes are treated poorly.

From a football perspective, though, Wagner’s sudden free agent status will surely generate plenty of interest in the open market. The Rams are reportedly intrigued with the prospect of signing the linebacker, so it will be interesting to see if they can land yet another star.
