Coming off a heartbreaking Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots, the Los Angeles Rams return most of their core nucleus of players in 2019 as they hope to return to and win the big game this time around.

One of those players that is returning is veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth, who contemplated retirement at the beginning of the offseason but instead decided to play one more season with the Rams.

With the first team workouts just around the corner, Whitworth expressed his excitement to get back on the field with his teammates and head coach Sean McVay, via Clarence Dennis of TheRams.com:

“Knowing the guy and the fire and intensity that he has, it’ll be good, you know that,” Whitworth said of head coach Sean McVay’s upcoming approach to trucking on. “I can’t wait to get back to work with him and really the whole group — I’m looking forward to it. I know he’s going to do a heck of a job, as he always does, as far as giving us a direct-set mentality of how we move forward from here and that’s one of the best things that he’s able to do.”

“And really leadership and providing that leadership in a room — that’s what’s so exceptional about him and why he’s one of a kind.”

The Rams recently announced their 2019 offseason program schedule and they are set to begin workouts in the middle of April, which is just a couple short weeks away.

Whitworth will have some work to do as the leader as the offensive line as they lost two key contributors in center John Sullivan and guard Rodger Saffold. So Whitworth will likely use those workouts to help integrate the new players into the mix.
