The Los Angeles Rams fired their head coach Jeff Fisher on Monday after he got them off to a 4-9 start to the season, heading for his fifth straight losing season as the team’s head coach.
Although there is still three games remaining in the season, the Rams have a head start on other teams in regards to finding their next coach, as they can begin the search now instead of waiting until the end of the season.
A lot of names have been floated around since Fisher’s firing in regards to who his replacement will be, and perhaps the biggest name that has been mentioned is Jim Harbaugh, who is currently the head coach at Michigan.
Many believe that Harbaugh wants to return to the NFL eventually, and this could be his opportunity to do that, but according to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, a source believes Harbaugh is very comfortable coaching at his alma mater and doesn’t plan to leave anytime soon:
Source very close to Jim Harbaugh just texted me: "Jim isn't leaving Michigan. He may never leave Michigan."
Just passing along.

Before Michigan Harbaugh coached at Stanford from 2007-10, going 29-21 including 12-1 in his final season, before making the jump to the NFL becoming the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.
Harbaugh saw a lot of success with the 49ers as he went 44-19-1 in four seasons. He made the postseason in his first three seasons, and got as far as the Super Bowl in the 2012-13 although they lost to the Baltimore Ravens 34-31.
After a bad falling out in San Francisco, Harbaugh returned to college and has seen more success, going 20-5 in his first few seasons putting Michigan back on the National Championship map.
Harbaugh, who was a professional quarterback, would have been a great option to help groom rookie quarterback Jared Goff, but the Rams may turn their sights to other quarterback gurus like Josh McDaniels and Kyle Shanahan if Harbaugh is indeed not interested.
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, who coached at the Coliseum when he was at USC, also recently reportedly said he is not interested in the Rams job as well.
