After the kind of week the NFL had, all anyone could hope for was the games to finally get started. Unfortunately, the games brought on a lot of problems themselves, particularly on the injury front.

The biggest name hit this morning, was a familiar one as Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has dislocated his ankle according to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan:

This comes as a huge blow to Redskins fans who had hoped for a comeback season for Griffin III after a lackluster second season followed his rookie of the year campaign in 2012. Luckily for the Redskins, they kept backup QB Kirk Cousins who would come in to throw two touchdowns in the Redskins 41-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now Griffin III must once again overcome an injury setback. Many were already calling for Cousins to start over him due to his play in the pre-season. If Cousins plays well in Griffin’s absence, Washington could have a serious QB competition on their hands.

Griffin III wasn’t the only offensive star to go down for the Redskins as wide receiver Desean Jackson suffered an AC joint sprain and did not return to the game.

Overall it was a tough day for injuries around the league as Miami Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno left his game with an elbow injury and Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green missed most of his game with turf toe.
