Before the Week 11 victory against the Houston Texans, no one knew what to expect from rookie quarterback Matt McGloin in his first career start. However, his three touchdowns against the best pass defense and reigning Defensive Player of the Year quickly earned him praise from the coaching staff and teammates.
With Terrelle Pryor struggling the last couple of weeks, McGloin’s performance has created competition at the quarterback position once again in Oakland. While McGloin said after the game that he always has more to prove and more to do, head coach Dennis Allen hasn’t determined who will start in Week 12 against the Tennessee Titans.
Before making his decision, Allen will speak to Pryor to see where his health is at. While it will be a difficult decision, it is a good problem to have. McGloin has proved in just one week to be a force with his arm while Pryor has done so with his running. Since all teams are aware of Pryor’s running ability, McGloin may be the best option at this point as the Raiders improved their chances to make the playoffs on Sunday.
