The Oakland Raiders are coming off their third win of the season with the Pittsburgh Steelers having no answer for Lamarr Houston and company on Sunday at O.co Coliseum.
In Week 9, the Raiders might be able to get a win streak going for the first time this season with the banged up Philadelphia Eagles coming to town. Along with the Eagles struggling to play well under Chip Kelly heading into Week 9 against the Raiders, the former Oregon head coach will likely be without his starting quarterback on Sunday according to Zach Berman of Philly.com:
Michael Vick is unlikely to play next week aganst the Oakland Raiders, Eagles coach Chip Kelly said on his regular Monday morning appearance on WIP’s Morning Show. Depending on Nick Foles’ status, Matt Barkley could start this week against the Oakland Raiders.
Although Vick hasn’t exactly been the game-changer of old for the Eagles this season, he’s the best option under center in Philadelphia while Foles recovers from a concussion. Foles has been dealing with concussion symptoms for over a week now and Kelly doesn’t seem optimistic that he’ll be able to return for Week 9.
As for Matt Barkley, the former USC standout has really struggled in his first two NFL appearances. In two games, Barkley has thrown for 287 yards and four interceptions without a single touchdown. Although Barkley may ultimately have a promising NFL career, the rookie quarterback has played awful for the Eagles thus far and that level of play may continue against a much improved Raiders defense.
