The Los Angeles Rams have dominated the NFL offseason headlines so far as they have pulled off several moves involving big-name players. The Rams revamped their defense by acquiring Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib through trades while also agreed to terms on a deal with Ndamukong Suh.
While Los Angeles now had top-end talent on the defensive side of the field, they were also reportedly interested in bolstering their offense by adding Odell Beckham Jr. to the roster. Beckham, who is in the final year of his contract, has given the New York Giants front office headaches the past couple of seasons with his on-the-field behavior and it seemed as though his time in the Big Apple was nearly over.
However, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it appears that talks between the Rams and Giants never got very far:
The #Rams were interested in Odell Beckham, but the combination of likely trade compensation and future extension made the price exorbitant. There were never serious negotiations. Meanwhile, the #Patriots have had no talks about trading Rob Gronkowski & expect to keep him.

Although Beckham would have been a luxury for Sean McVay and the offense to have, the team ultimately decided on bringing in Brandin Cooks instead. Cooks, who is also in the final year of his rookie contract, cost the Rams two draft picks but was still a cheaper alternative than trying to land Beckham.
While Beckham trade rumors will more than likely soak up most of the rumors and speculation around the league, Los Angeles has put itself firmly in the Super Bowl conversation given all their talent across the roster. It remains to be seen how well the Rams’ new acquisitions will adjust to their new surroundings, but for the time being it is easy to imagine Los Angeles making an impressive postseason run.
