The Cinderella 2017 NFL season came to a disappointing end for the Los Angeles Rams with their loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC Wild Card round. Of all the losses the Rams have experienced this year, this one undoubtedly stung the most.
Unfortunately, losing in the Coliseum has become an all-too-familiar sight for fans. That said, star running back Todd Gurley promised that the team will do a better job of protecting home-field advantage in the 2018 NFL season, according to Joe Curley of the Ventura County Star:
“Next year, we’ll get some more home wins, for sure,” Gurley said. “Obviously, we want to win on the road, too, but we’ve got to defend our turf. Just appreciate everybody coming out here the whole year. It was a rough year last year, but for us to come back and bounce back and fans coming out here every game to support us, it means a lot and we appreciate it and look forward to next year.”
As good as the Rams were this year, they managed to do most of their work on the road. Los Angeles finished tied for an NFL-best 7-1 away record. However, they were unable to translate that success at home.
The Rams ended the season having gone 3-4 at the Coliseum since one of their home victories had been played in London earlier in the year. Regardless, it has been a spectacular season for Los Angeles, while Gurley’s MVP-caliber year has the Rams’ future looking brighter than ever.
