The primetime showdown between two of the more promising young quarterbacks in the league certainly followed through on the hype. Both enjoyed strong outings in the first matchup of their careers.

Unfortunately, only one was able to leave the field healthy after it was announced that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz is done for the rest of the 2017 NFL season with a torn ACL. Upon hearing about the devastating injury, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff made sure to text Wentz and offer his support, according to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez

“It’s terrible. I feel really bad for him. I shot him a text hoping for the best. It’s tough, especially a guy like Carson to be out. I hope that’s not the case. I’m praying for the best. If there’s anyone who can bounce back, it’s him.”

Goff and Wentz will forever be intertwined as the first and second overall picks in the 2016 NFL Draft. Even prior to the draft, there was plenty of speculation as to who was going to go first.

Needless to say, both quarterbacks have had different roads to stardom up to this point. However, both have proved to be the bonafide franchise signal callers they were drafted to be.
