The Los Angeles Rams defense saved the day once again in their 27-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite a slow start to the 2017 NFL season, the defense has managed to make big plays in crucial situations to help the team to two of their biggest wins this year.
Although the unit as a whole has looked much more formidable than early on, the resurgence of All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald has undoubtedly be the biggest reason. This was especially evident in Week 6 after he recorded more quarterback pressures than five other teams, according to Mike Cahill of Pro Football Focus:
QB Pressures WK6:
Donald-10
TB-10
DET-9
JAX-8
NYJ-7
LAC-5
KC-5Donald = 2 teams' worth of pressures in week 6

The three-time All-Pro managed to convert one of the pressures into a sack and a forced fumble while registering two tackles as well. Not only has he managed to apply constant pressure on the quarterback, but he has been equally effective at clogging running lanes.
Donald’s return to dominance has been impressive considering he missed training camp due to contract disputes. If he keeps this pace up, he will deservedly inquire about becoming one the NFL’s highest-paid defensive player when the time comes. Fortunately, the recent Alec Ogletree extension is not expected to affect Donald’s potential deal.
