Rams News: Aaron Donald Reports To Team, Passes Physical

The Los Angeles Rams will soon be making their 2017 NFL debut when they face off against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. The Colts will be without starting quarterback Andrew Luck, which should result in a field day for the Rams defense.

Speaking of the defense, the biggest news for Los Angeles during the offseason revolved around defensive tackle Aaron Donald and his holdout from the team. Donald has been searching for a contract extension that adequately pays him for his services.

Despite talks seemingly looking bleak, it appears the front office and Donald’s camp have made progress because according to ProFootball Talk, Donald has ended his holdout:

Per source, Aaron Donald has reported to the Rams and passed his physical.

This comes as a pleasant surprise for the Rams as there appeared to be no end in sight on a resolution. After re-signing wide receiver Tavon Austin to an extension, the front office had little leverage when negotiating with Donald and his representatives. The three-time Pro Bowler is arguably the best in the league at his position and it is a wonder as to why he has not been offered the extension most franchises would have happily given him.

While Donald has finally reported to the team, he will not play against the Colts and could possibly miss Week 2 against the Washington Redskins as well. Despite his absence from game action, the Rams and their fans should rejoice in knowing that their defensive anchor is back in the fold. Donald is a game-changer on the defensive end and it will be fun to see him hit the field when he is able to.
