The Los Angeles Rams had one of the busiest offseasons in the NFL. After a dismal 2016 NFL season where they went 4-12, the Rams decided to move on from Jeff Fisher and bring in Sean McVay.
McVay, who spent 2016 as the Washington Redskins’ offensive coordinator, represented a fresh start for the league’s worst offensive team. The 31-year-old’s play calling ability and knack for developing young quarterbacks were just what the Rams needed and the move was deemed as a positive one for the team’s fanbase.
Experts around the NFL have already begun to notice the atmosphere shift in Los Angeles and according to Danny Kelly of The Ringer, he believes the team’s newest additions should revitalize the franchise:
All this new talent, combined with a totally new passing offense, and the Rams—especially Goff—may be hard to recognize in 2017. That’s the hope, anyway.”
In order to help Goff’s development, the Rams front office prioritized surrounding him with viable weapons. The team spent its first two picks in the 2017 NFL draft on Gerald Everett and Cooper Kupp, two rookies who should play a role in the passing game. However, the team was not done as it completed a blockbuster deal to acquire Sammy Watkins from the Buffalo Bills, signaling their commitment to McVay’s pass-heavy system.
Entering their second year back in Los Angeles, the Rams will set out to prove they are capable of competing in the NFL. With new faces up and down the roster, it will be fun to see just how much these new-look Rams accomplish.
