The Los Angeles Rams are known to be one of the most aggressive teams in the NFL when it comes to making big trades to land the players they want. Since general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay have taken over, the franchise has never been shy about moving whatever draft capital they feel is necessary to improve the team.
As such, this is the first time the Rams have a first-round draft pick since 2016, sitting at 19th overall. But after a season in which they completely outperformed what many expected of them, the Rams seem to be once again looking to make a big move within the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Rams are making calls looking to trade up into the top 10 of the draft:

Snead and McVay are always going to explore all possible options in regards to their draft picks and potentially making moves, but getting into the top 10 from 19 would be pretty costly. What it would take to make such a move is unclear, as is who the Rams could be targeting.
The top 10 of the draft is expected to be mostly offensive players so it would be safe to say the Rams would be targeting that side of the ball. One player the Rams may have some interest in is Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze, whom the team met with at the NFL Combine. With Cooper Kupp’s recent injury issues, perhaps Snead and McVay would like to add another weapon to pair with rookie sensation Puka Nacua.
The team could also potentially target offensive line as someone like Notre Dame’s Joe Alt could be viewed as the long-term answer at left tackle, especially as current starter Alaric Jackson is on a one-year deal.
Whatever the case may be, the Rams are always a candidate to make a deal and it looks as if Snead and McVay are already setting up for a big move.
Les Snead open to all possibilities for Rams’ 19th pick in NFL Draft
Rams general manager Les Snead has been open about the multiple possibilities the Rams have in being armed with a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. And he isn’t ruling anything out.
“I think that’s really the reality of 19. (Reporter) Gary, you’ve had your hand raised forever and you’ve been the one to ask consistently, are we moving up or staying back? And you really don’t know. But I can honestly say that all three of those options are probably as real as it can get in a reality for sure. And we’re going to explore all three.
“Staying pat is one that you control, but you definitely do not control who falls. If you’re going to move up, that’s a proactive attempt to strike from a distance per se, maybe get an explosive play in the football world, and we’ll see what happens and see if we move back or stay pat..”
