With their final four picks on Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected Ohio State safety Jordan Fuller (199th overall), Baylor linebacker Clay Johnston (234th overall), Miami Ohio kicker Sam Sloman (248th overall) and Clemson guard Tremayne Anchrum (250th overall).
The Rams are set at the starting safety positions with John Johnson III and Taylor Rapp, but they definitely could use some depth at the position, which is where the pick of Fuller came in.
Fuller is only one of 14 two-time captains in the history of Ohio State’s prestigious programs. In 14 games last season, he had 62 total tackles, two interceptions, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery.
It’s no secret that the Rams need help at the inside linebacker position after the departure of Cory Littleton in free agency. They waited until the seventh round before addressing it though, taking Johnston.
The Baylor product was limited to six games in 2019 due to a torn ACL but is believed to be healthy and training at this time. His best season was his junior year in 2018, where he had 99 total tackles in 11 games.
Another key departure for the Rams was kicker Greg Zuerlein, who signed with the Dallas Cowboys. The team has already brought in a pair of kickers this offseason, and now a third will be added to the open competition in Sloman.
In four seasons at Miami Ohio, Sloman made 49-of-62 kicks (79%) and 112-of-115 extra points (97.4%).
It took until their final pick of the draft, but the Rams finally took an offensive lineman in Anchrum to finish out their 2020 class. He should have a chance to battle for a starting spot, although the team has a few other solid guards that he will be able to learn under regardless.
Anchrum mostly played tackle in his time at Clemson, so will be changing positions in the NFL. That also means that he has versatility though, which the Rams have valued highly over the years.
